Since 1980, The Tool Kit People have been keeping service techs on the move stocked with tool cases, tool kits, and hand tools that don’t quit. Over the years, we’ve become the go-to for businesses everywhere—straightforward, reliable, and built to order so teams always have the right gear.
It all started in Cleveland, Ohio, as R&K Supply. But that name didn’t really click. After enough people asked who we were, we’d joke, “You know us—it’s The Tool Kit People!” And just like that, the name stuck.
Our first “storefront” was actually at the Cleveland Airport. Busy service techs passing through spotted our displays. Word spread fast, our catalog took off, and suddenly we had a loyal fan base. Before long, we were in airport hubs across the country and shipping kits around the globe.
Over time, we shipped it all—small parcels, big pallets, you name it. We tried out semi-retirement in Hilton Head, came back to Ohio as KJ Tool Kits, and kept on growing. Then in 2024, founder Bob finally hit the retirement “eject button” and handed the reins to Jess. With that, we decided to circle back to the name that says it all: The Tool Kit People.
Today, more than 80% of our sales come from repeat customers. That tells us one thing—they know our gear holds up. Our tool cases are tough. Our tools are built to last. And after 40+ years, we’re still doing what we’ve always done best: making sure you’ve got the right kit for the job.
